Texas For All Coalition Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

Hispanic Heritage Month is a Celebration Of Culture & A Call To Action For Equity

Today, Texas For All, the largest progressive coalition based in Texas, issued a statement honoring Hispanic Heritage Month.

Full statement from Texas For All’s Executive Director Sissi Yado is as follows:

“Hispanic Heritage Month is a time for us to celebrate the rich and diverse contributions of Hispanic and Latine people to our history, culture, and society. It reminds us of the profound impact these communities have had on shaping the tapestry of our state and nation.

We must not merely recognize this as a celebration of heritage; there are a myriad of challenges that many Hispanic and Latine Texans face today. These challenges, including issues related to immigration, economic equity, social justice, and more remind us that there is much work to be done to achieve a multiracial democracy.

As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, let us remember that this is not just a time for reflection, but a call to action. It is a time to honor the heritage of Hispanic and Latine Texans by standing together, side by side, to build a more inclusive and equitable future for every Texan, no exception. Together, we can create a Texas where diversity is not only celebrated but also actively cultivated, where every Texan, no matter the color of their skin, the languages they speak or what is in their wallet, has the chance to contribute to our shared prosperity.”
